Kinnelon Colts win the 2010 Atlantic District U10 House League Championship



The Kinnelon Squirts won all three games of the AAHA House League Tournament to win the championship for the second consecutive year.  Kinnelon beat their opponents - Montclair 4-2, the Flyers 5-1 and the Generals 6-0.

Green Mites win Twin Oaks 3 on 3 Holiday Tournament

December 2009

The Kinnelon Green Mites team started the tournament off strong, sweeping the first five games.  Game six was a loss to Harding Madison.  Despite the loss, our record qualified us for the Championship Game - a rematch against Harding Madison.  After a much needed half hour break, the team put in a terrific effort.  With a nail biting finish, the Green Mites went on to win the Tournament with a 6-5 Victory!





Kinnelon Colt Pee Wees Sweep! With a first place 14-4 regular season record in the Morris County

Youth Hockey League and with a 7-4 victory over Denville in the playoff championship game on

March 17, they won the MYCHL championship. But, the Colts were not finished. They also play in

the Skylands league where they ended the regular season in first place with an 11-3 record and

with a hard fought 4-2 win over Sparta in the championship game, won the Skylands title as well.

Kinnelon Colts win the Atlantic District House League Championship



With an 8 to 2 victory over Montclair in the final game of the tournament on Sunday, March 1, 2009,

the Kinnelon Colts Yellow  Squirt hockey team consisting of 9 and 10 year olds from Kinnelon,

Boonton, Boonton Township and Mountain Lakes, won The USA Hockey Atlantic District 10 and

under House Championship.


The Colts also defeated an all star team from The Skate Zone, which is the practice facility of the

Philadelphia Flyers in Voorhees, NJ where the tournament was held. The kids also had the chance

to watch the Philadelphia Flyers practice and meet some of the players during the tournament.















Kinnelon Colts win the American Cup Ice Hockey Tournament – Lake Placid



Kinnelon Colts Bantams (Kinnelon Ice Hockey Club) traveled to Lake Placid New York to compete

in the American Cup Ice Hockey Tournament. They played games against teams from

Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut. The games where played on the Olympic Ice where

USA defeated USSR in the 1980 Olympic Games. (The Miracle on Ice). After advancing to the Gold

Medal round the Colts defeated the Wonderland Wizards from Bridgeport Connecticut. The game

was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation play and went to an overtime period which also ended in a

1-1 tie. The game then went to a sudden death shootout. The Colts first shooter was Julian

Mazzola who scored a goal which was all they needed to win as Rob Pierpont was stellar

between the pipes shutting out the Wizards in the shootout. Player of the game honors went to

Taylor Monro and player of the Tournament went to Zach Lanaras.

Kinnelon Colts Win New Year's Classic



The Kinnelon Colts squirt hockey team swept the competition to win the Ice Houses'

New Year's Classic. Defeating travel teams the Ramapo Saints, Avalanche Gold, Avalanche

Blue and finally the Colonials, the Kinnelon squirts took home the winners trophy from their

second tournament of the year.  The Colts started the tournament with a decisive win over a

quick Ramapo Saints team 7-3, followed by a 4-1 win over the Avalanche Gold. Then came

a nail biting win over a tough Avalanche Blue team. Tied 1-1 with only seconds left,

defensemen Noah Mazzola let one rip from the blue line that was tipped by Sean Grant and

just got pass the stingy Avalanche goalie to win 2-1 and advance into the championship

game where they would meet the also undefeated Colonials.  Evan Prestera started the

scoring off with one of his two goals only minutes into the first period followed by a barrage

of scoring including a hat trick from Steven Gakos, and a goal from Sean Grant to defeat

The Colonials 6-2.  The Colts allowed only 7 points in the four games, with tough defensive

play from Evan Prestera, Michael Harrison, Noah Mazzola, Michael Cafiero and sensational

goal tending from Jack McConeghy . While the Colts high powered offense of Steven

Gakos, Adam Breach, Sean and Patrick Grant, Joe Burns, John Rosseland and Sean Gould

racked up 16 goals and defensemen Evan Prestera and Noah Mazzola added 3 goals of

their own.  The Colts also took home medals from the skills competition by placing second

in the relay race, and goalie Jack McConeghy won the goalie competition.  The Kinnelon

Colts are coached by head coach Nick Gakos and assisted by Jim Breach and Chris Burns.

The Kinnelon Colts win the Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout Tournament at the Ice Vault in Wayne.

The Colts went 4-0 to win the Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout Championship beating travel teams the NJ Bandits, Skyland Kings and NJ Wild to win their first tournament championship. Final game was a nail biter against the NJ Bandits in which Kinnelon won 2-0. After two intense scoreless periods, Evan Prestera scored the first point midway thru the third period and Joe Burns followed it up moments later to make it 2-0. Team leader Steve Gakos put constant pressure on the tough Bandit goalie as well as putting his team mates Sean & Patrick Grant, Adam Breach, Joe Burns, Sean Gould and John Roseland in prime scoring position. Colts defensmen Michael Cafiero, Noah Mazzola, Michael Harrison, Evan Prestera and goalie Jack McConeghy shut out the high powered Bandit offense and allowed only 3 shots on goal the entire game. The Colts pride themselves on team play, constant puck movement and tough defense.

March Madness Champions

The Green PeeWee's won the March Madness Tournament in Marlboro, MA.  They played 4 teams from Maine, Massachusetts, and White Plains, NY.  They scored 7 goals in each of the 4 games played and outscored the competition 28-4.
